15-minute gardens throughout the city are now open for service in 141 locations. BMA emphasizes developing both quantity and quality.

 

Mr. Aekvarunyoo Amrapala, BMA Spokesperson and Assistant Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok Revealed the progress of the 15-minute garden operation throughout the city by the policy of Governor Chadchart who wants to increase the number of public parks for people to use together. The goal is to increase green space to at least 10 square meters per person. And allow the public to access within 15 minutes or a distance of approximately 800 meters.

Currently, there are 141 15-minute gardens open for service in various areas throughout Bangkok (information as of July 13, 2024). The target is set to have 500 additional 15-minute gardens within the Year 2026, with the participation of all sectors, including the people who use the service. The style of each garden depends on the needs of the community and the characteristics of the area.

As for the evaluation criteria for 15-minute gardens, the Environment Agency has set evaluation criteria and guidelines for maintaining the quality of 15-minute gardens throughout the city for administrators at both the Environment Agency and district offices to implement to ensure 15-minute gardens throughout the city.
Maintain the quality of the space to be consistent with the use of the people who use the service, divided into 4 categories: 1. Standard criteria (standard) 2. Participation criteria (Inclusive community) 3. Healthy space criteria (Healthy space) 4. Environmental criteria (Environment) is divided into various levels of evaluation, including standard, basic, and excellent, which the district office that owns the area will be the 15-minute garden assessor that is responsible for taking care of it.
