BMA is delighted that BKK Food Bank was able to deliver more than 130,000 kilograms of food to vulnerable groups. 

 

 

Mr. Aekvarunyoo Amrapala, BMA Spokesperson and Assistant Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok Revealed the progress and results of the BKK Food Bank project, which is a project that BMA is implementing to create food security for the people. By providing food and essential items to vulnerable groups, including the elderly.

In addition, this results in the amount of food being wasted. Their numbers have decreased and do not cause any damage to the environment or economy. Vulnerable groups and people with low incomes have received concrete food assistance referrals. And receive adequate food Create opportunities to access appropriate food

Currently, the BKK Food Bank at the district office is open for service in 30 districts. Performance results from the start of the project until today, 18 July 2024, have been able to deliver donated food to vulnerable groups in the amount of 133,527.04 kilograms or 247,752.48 meals, with recipients receiving food. The number of 59,606 people can be calculated as a reduced carbon amount of 337,823.4 kgCO2e.

 

For the BKK Food Bank project, BMA There are 2 types of operations as follows: Model 1: The district office receives and forwards surplus food from “donors to recipients” in the area and provides assistance to vulnerable groups covering all groups. Work together with donors Receive surplus food 3 days a week, which is every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. BKK Food Bank has been established in 37 districts and the second model is the establishment of BKK Food Bank in district offices.

The idea is to provide a place to store and deliver food. Various necessary items, and consumer goods (Food Donation) to recipients or target groups. The district office is responsible for evaluating and rating the target groups. And allow recipients to exchange points received for items from BKK Food Bank. This has been done in 33 districts.
