To ensure all ballots are safe and accounted for, a special training session was held on Sunday for Bangkok officials who will be posted at polling stations on May 14.
Khajit Chatchavanich, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) permanent secretary, was also present at the training session held in collaboration with Phra Nakhon Rajabhat University at the Lak Si district office.
Several qualified personnel were invited to educate officials on the electoral rules and regulations laid out by the Election Commission (EC).
Thanking election officials for their dedication, Khajit said they should take care of their health and get enough sleep as they will start their work very early at 4am on May 7 for advance voters and May 14 for general voters.
So far, 800,000 voters have registered for advance voting in Bangkok, while the total number of eligible voters in the capital comes in at 4,469,280. Bangkok has the highest number of constituency MP seats available at 33.
The EC has mandated that all provinces host training sessions for officials scheduled to be working at polling stations ahead of the election.
Thais will be electing 500 members of the House of Representatives to form the new government. Of the 500 seats up for grabs, 400 are for constituency MPs and the remainder for party-list MPs.
