Mr. Danny Annan, Danish Ambassador, officially opened a striking new street art mural at the Benchakitti Sports Center to celebrate International Women’s Day. The collaborative project, titled “Leaders of Tomorrow,” features the combined talents of Thai artist WARIS and Danish artist Stine Hvid. Governor Chadchart remarked that the true quality of a city is measured not by its skyscrapers, but by the accessibility of its public spaces and art. He noted that Benchakitti Park has become a central hub for the community, drawing over 10,000 visitors on weekends. This mural serves as a vital representation of the women who frequent the park for activities like yoga, shifting the city’s visual landscape where public monuments have historically focused on men.

The artwork depicts anonymous women from a vast array of backgrounds, including Asian, Indian, African, and Greenlandic ethnicities, along with symbolic “hands” representing European and South American heritages. By choosing not to link these figures to specific countries, the artists intended to create a universal tribute that every viewer can relate to personally. The mural utilizes soft yet powerful imagery, including flowers of peace and a flock of swans symbolizing freedom and integrity, to illustrate the idea that gentleness is a formidable force for global change. This “Thai-Danish Street Art Tribute” seeks to empower future generations by highlighting women as a vital force for the future.

The initiative also honors the historical depth of the women’s movement, rooted in the labor struggles of 1857–1908 and the “Bread and Roses” slogan. It specifically commemorates the 1910 Second National Congress of Socialist Women in Copenhagen, where the “three-eight” system, allocating 8 hours each for work, study, and rest, was adopted. By blending this rich history with modern urban art, the BMA reinforces its mission to build a livable, equitable city. This masterpiece stands as a permanent reminder that in a truly modern society, everyone deserves an equal place and the right to be valued.

#BMA #InternationalWomenDay #StreetArt

On March 6, 2026, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of …

อ่านเพิ่มเติม “Global Sisterhood in Bloom: Bangkok and Denmark Unveil “Leaders of Tomorrow” Mural at Benchakitti Park”

[267

post-583448","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-eng0
["GET
