{"id":507820,"date":"2025-07-16T09:28:39","date_gmt":"2025-07-16T02:28:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pr-bangkok.com\/?p=507820"},"modified":"2025-07-16T09:28:48","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T02:28:48","slug":"chadchart-inspects-khlong-kled-bridge-construction-targets-full-completion-by-february-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pr-bangkok.com\/?p=507820","title":{"rendered":"Chadchart inspects Khlong Kled bridge construction, targets full completion by February 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"593\" height=\"1040\" src=\"https:\/\/pr-bangkok.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/S__60416026_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-507824\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pr-bangkok.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/S__60416026_0.jpg 593w, https:\/\/pr-bangkok.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/S__60416026_0-342x600.jpg 342w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 593px) 100vw, 593px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(July 10, 2025) \u2013 Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and Deputy Governor Wisanu Subsompon visited the construction site of the Khlong Kled Bridge and adjacent drainage tunnel along Sukhumvit 103 (Udomsuk Road) in Prawet district to inspect progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Governor Chadchart explained that the site is part of a key drainage route, diverting water from Nong Bon Lake to Khlong Bang O.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February 2022, before he took office, underground water had leaked into a shaft at the Khlong Kled water intake building. This caused severe damage to the bridge\u2019s foundations, resulting in the collapse of its pilings and requiring extensive repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI must apologise to the public for the inconvenience caused by this long disruption on Udomsuk Road,\u201d Chadchart said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that a new drainage tunnel is being constructed five metres above the original one, connecting to the existing intake shaft. The new tunnel has been fully bored and linked to the shaft. Crews are now removing the drilling equipment and installing tunnel lining panels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA drainage tunnel works differently from a canal. While a canal can collect water at every point along its length\u2014much like a regular road\u2014a tunnel is more like a motorway. It requires designated entry and exit points through shafts. For example, the tunnel running from Nong Bon to Bang Na has eight water intake shafts,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTunnels allow water to flow rapidly, like an expressway, but they also require proper infrastructure to channel water into them.
