. (March 26, 2025) \u2013 Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, inspected the pedestrian areas near the former Lao Market on Rama IV Road in Khlong Toei district, following the market\u2019s dismantling and the reclaiming of the space.<\/p>\n\n\n

As part of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)\u2019s efforts, new pedestrian pathways were installed, the landscape was improved, and traffic management was enhanced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Governor Chadchart commented that the former Lao Market area is now significantly tidier, with fewer cars parked along the pedestrian routes. Traffic on Rama IV Road has improved and no longer causes congestion in front of the market, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the cooperation of the private sector, partitions have been installed along the side of the Khlong Toei market, contributing to a more organised appearance. The water in the canal has also become visibly cleaner, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Khlong Toei market is an important site as people from all over Bangkok come to shop here,\u201d he said, adding that the BMA will continue to improve areas across the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Governor Chadchart also encouraged Bangkok residents to help maintain cleanliness and order in the Khlong Toei area. \u201cWe can\u2019t go around chasing everyone, so it\u2019s important to work together to take care of the city, as it belongs to all of us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
