<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe waste-to-energy plant at On Nut spans an area of 30 rai and is managed by Newsky Energy (Bangkok) Co., Ltd. Construction began on February 19, 2024, and is expected to finish on November 14, 2026, with a total construction period of 1,000 days. The project is part of Bangkok\u2019s plan to develop waste management solutions by converting waste into energy, thereby reducing landfill dependency. The initiative adopts a private contractor model, utilizing a Stoker-Type incinerator that operates at temperatures between 850\u00b0C and 1,100\u00b0C. The system involves collecting waste and storing it in closed waste pits for 3\u20135 days to reduce moisture content to 35%. A crane then feeds the waste into the incinerator, where the heat is used to produce high-pressure steam. This steam drives turbines that convert mechanical energy into electrical energy through a generator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project is currently 28.3% complete. The work includes constructing concrete foundations, waste pits, and primary structural components, as well as installing machinery and systems such as power lines and connections to the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA). Additional progress includes water pipeline installations, a biological wastewater treatment facility, an anaerobic treatment system, and the construction of a chimney stack, pump house, and various operational buildings. Specific completed tasks include pouring concrete for the main building floor and preparing the water reservoir and dormitory foundations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his visit, Mr. Chakkaphan instructed the Environmental Department to continuously monitor the project\u2019s progress and report any challenges or obstacles to ensure timely completion by late 2026. He also urged the contractors to strictly follow safety protocols during construction, emphasizing the regular inspection of equipment to prevent accidents. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of adhering to PM2.5 mitigation measures, including the effective use of water misting systems, installing air quality monitoring devices, and displaying data on public screens at the project site. These measures aim to minimize environmental impacts and contribute to sustainable air pollution control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Accompanying the Deputy Governor on the site inspection were Mr.Prapas Lueangsirinapha, Director General of Environmental Department, Ms. Woranuch Suaykakaow, Deputy Director General of Environment Department, representatives from Newsky Energy (Bangkok) Co., Ltd., and other relevant officials.
